Marangu Gate is a local shopping area not to be missed, but be warned - the merchants will attack you in large numbers holding up all sorts of local crafts from wooden candleholders to elephant hair bangles. Tired as you may be from whatever trekking you did that day, it is wise to spend a few minutes haggling and purchase a few souvenirs here. They are the cheapest your money will buy.
